Offer Letter Verification

Learn how Offer Letter Verification works and when applicants may be asked to upload an employment offer letter

Offer Letter Verification allows applicants to upload an employment offer letter so future income can be reviewed when standard income verification methods aren’t sufficient or don’t yet show income.

This option is commonly used when an applicant:

  • Is starting a new job soon

  • Has future income that does not yet appear in bank or payroll data

Offer Letter Verification supplements existing income verification and does not replace bank or payroll connections.

When Offer Letter Verification is used

Applicants may be given the option to upload an offer letter during the income verification process if additional proof of future income is needed.

Offer letters can be uploaded during any of the following verification flows:

  • Bank-based income verification

  • Payroll-based income verification

  • Document-based income verification

This ensures applicants have a way to share future income when deposits or payroll data are not yet available.

Applicant experience

Uploading an offer letter

At the end of the income verification process, applicants may see an “Upload an Offer Letter” button.

This allows them to select a file directly from their device.

Accepted file types

Applicants can upload:

  • PDF files

  • Image files (such as JPG or PNG)

Once uploaded, the offer letter is securely attached to the applicant’s verification request.

What is reviewed in an offer letter

When an offer letter is submitted, Payscore reviews the document to identify key details that help decision-makers understand future income, including:

  • Offered compensation

  • Employment start date

  • Overall document consistency

Any relevant details found in the offer letter are included in the verification report for review.

Document authenticity and integrity checks

As part of Offer Letter Verification, Payscore analyzes the full document content to assess consistency and authenticity.

This includes reviewing:

  • Visible text and formatting

  • Document structure and metadata

  • Embedded or hidden text layers (when present)

  • Signs of edits, overlays, or manipulation

These checks help identify inconsistencies that may not be visible at first glance, such as altered text, copied templates, or lingering hidden elements from edited documents.

The goal is not to reject documents automatically, but to provide risk signals to the customer reviewing the verification report so they can make an informed decision.

How offer letters appear in reports

  • The uploaded offer letter is included in the final verification report

  • The report displays risk signals related to the offer letter

  • These signals help indicate whether the document appears consistent and trustworthy

  • The offer letter itself is available for customer review within the report

Applicants do not receive a copy of the report. Reports are provided to the customer for review.

Important things to know

  • Offer Letter Verification is applicant-initiated

  • Applicants are only prompted to upload an offer letter if the verification flow allows it

  • Offer letters are uploaded after the applicant connects a bank, payroll provider, or submits documents

  • Only PDF and image files are accepted
