Payscore offers an Identity Verification (IDV) QR code that on-site teams can use during in-person tours to quickly verify an applicant’s identity.

This workflow is designed for situations where the applicant is physically present and can show their government-issued ID.

What is the Identity Verification QR code?

The Identity Verification QR code:

  • Can be printed and placed at the on-site team’s desk

  • Allows applicants to scan the code and complete identity verification on their own device

  • Is commonly used during in-person property tours

This provides a fast, consistent way to validate identity without sending an email or text invitation.

You can see a sample of the printed QR code below:

How the QR code workflow works

  1. An on-site team member provides the applicant with the printed QR code

  2. The applicant scans the QR code using their phone

  3. The applicant follows the on-screen steps to:

    • Scan their government-issued ID

  4. The identity verification is completed and a report is generated for review

Important: Selfie check behavior

  • Applicants are not required to take a selfie when verifying identity via the QR code

  • This makes the QR code workflow especially suitable for in-person verification, where staff can visually confirm the applicant

Note: If identity verification is initiated through other workflows (such as sending a direct link), selfie verification may still be required depending on configuration.

Who can access the QR code

  • The Identity Verification QR code is available to Admins

  • It can be accessed from Settings in the Payscore admin portal

When to use the QR code

The QR code workflow is ideal when:

  • Applicants are physically on-site

  • You want to verify identity during a tour

  • You want a fast, repeatable process for walk-ins

  • Email or SMS invitations are not practical
